How do soapnuts work?

The soapnuts when agitated in water, release 'saponin', which is a natural cleaner that works as a surfactant. It breaks the surface tension of water to penetrate the fibers of clothes, thus, lifting stains from the fabric. The dirt remains suspended in the water that is rinsed away. They are completely safe, gentle for use on sensitive skin, including baby clothes, and are also antimicrobial. Soapnuts generally do not foam like the regular cleaning products. Soapnuts can also be used to clean dishes (in dishwasher), as a shampoo to wash your hair, or for surface cleaning. They are 100 percent natural, completely biodegradable and do not contain any synthetic pesticides (insects are naturally repulsed by saponin).

The Benefits of Soapnuts

Soapnuts have been used around the world for centuries. It has anti-bacterial, anti-fungal, anti-allergic & anti-microbial properties. Conventional laundry soaps often contain toxic chemicals some of which (such as 1,2-Dioxane) have been shown to be carcinogenic and volatile. Soapnuts leave your clothes clean while protecting your skin and environment. The grey water after mopping the floor can be used for watering plants & lawn to provide nutrition & control pests.

Usage of Sopanuts

Soapnut can be used as is or to make a liquid to use as a multi-purpose cleansing agent.
